
2025 was a year filled with milestones and proud moments for 5C. Over the course of the year, we saw ongoing progress across many fronts, each step reinforcing the direction we are headed and the work we set out to do.
These achievements were shaped by collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to building thoughtfully and responsibly. Together, they reflect a year of steady momentum and growth.
This is a look back at the moments that defined 2025, month by month.
April - The Birth of 5C
April marked the birth of 5C, formed through a strategic acquisition that brought together complementary strengths in AI compute and data center infrastructure. 5C emerged as a new entity when Hypertec Cloud spun off from Hypertec Group and acquired 5C Data Centers, creating a new, independent company purpose-built to deliver AI infrastructure solutions at scale for the largest AI users with the most demanding workloads.
This milestone created one of North America’s largest AI digital infrastructure providers, with over 2 gigawatts (GW) of roadmap capacity and the ability to power hundreds of thousands of GPUs.
5C also launched its new identity and website reflecting its evolution from traditional data center operator to a leader in next-generation AI factory.
Following the announcement, 5C hit the ground running in a nonstop marathon to bring secure, reliable AI to the world.
May - The Dawn of a New Partnership
In May, 5C publicly articulated its vision for next-gen AI Factories through a video collaboration with Together AI, called Shaping the Next Generation of AI Factories. The video showcases how 5C, Hypertec, and Together AI are collaborating to meet real customer needs by building next-gen AI factories at unprecedented speed.
That same momentum carried to the Computex conference, where Pegatron featured 5C in its booth next to its GB300 NVL72 rack. This adoption of frontier-class NVIDIA Blackwell technology reflected the partnership’s next phase.
June - From Vision to Global Expansion
June marked 5C’s first major conference appearance as a unified company at the AI & Big Data Expo, furthering 5C’s position as a recognized leader in next-gen AI Factory infrastructure.
The company also welcomed the Quebec Trade Office to its booth at this conference, underscoring growing government interest in sovereign AI capabilities and Canadian-led infrastructure.
The month saw the start of the 5C x Together AI - Fireside Chat video series, where 5C’s CEO Jonathan Ahdoot and Vipul Ved Prakash, Co-founder and CEO of Together AI, offer insights into the qualities that make the partnership with Together AI so uniquely prepared to meet the demands of next-gen AI compute.
June also brought the announcement of a strategic expansion into Europe, with 5C, Hypertec, and Together AI aligning to drive up to $5B in private investment for European AI factory rollout, to bring large-scale sovereign AI at a significant time and cost savings.
July - Capital and Capacity
July included milestones for 5C in both physical deployment and momentum for the future of large-scale AI compute in North America.
5C participated in the RAISE Summit in Paris, engaging global policymakers and industry leaders on the future of AI infrastructure.
The company also announced the first phase of its liquid-cooled NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 GPU cluster deployment, developed in collaboration with Dell Technologies, Together AI, Hypertec Group, VAST Data, and CaTech Systems Ltd. This landmark highlights 5C’s ongoing alliances with leading innovators in AI-optimized hardware and software.

A visit from the Honourable Evan Solomon, Canada’s Minister of AI and Digital Innovation, gave 5C, and Hypertec Group an opportunity to showcase their plans and progress to advance Canada’s AI leadership.
The end of the month saw a landmark announcement: 5C secured $835M USD of capital from Brookfield and Deutsche Bank.
This capital will accelerate the development of 5C’s state-of-the-art data centers and scalable AI infrastructure across North America, addressing the rapidly growing demand for AI compute capacity and digital infrastructure.

August - Community Building
August brought 5C to Ai4, one of North America’s premier enterprise AI conferences, where discussions focused on deploying AI infrastructure at production scale.

The month also marked the conclusion of the 5C x Together AI - Fireside Chat video series, which gave a candid look into the companies’ thought processes and strategies for building fast, cost-efficient AI factories at scale.
September - Sovereign AI Takes Center Stage
At the ALL IN 2025 conference, 5C announced a collaboration with Hypertec and Mila to create a $250M Sovereign AI Research Hub. The campus, which will be built in the Montreal suburb of LaSalle, will provide Canadian researchers, startups, and entrepreneurs with secure access to advanced compute capacity.
The announcement received proud support from several Canadian ministers including the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions; the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation; and Christine Fréchette, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy.

5C also started “5C Voices,” a video series that introduces its talent and illuminates its strategies. In the first two videos, Michael Gero, VP of Cloud Operations, sheds light on the day-to-day challenges of keeping AI systems running at full speed, while David Bitton, VP of AI & Product Strategy, gives his views on cloud trends and sustainability.
October – The Road to Memphis
5C gave an exciting first glimpse of the Memphis Frontier AI Factory, scheduled for launch in 2026. The facility is purpose-built from the ground up, and features NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 systems, Dell Technologies’ liquid-cooled Integrated Rack Scalable Systems, VAST Data’s AI storage platform, and accelerated software stack using Together Kernel Collection.
At the GTC conference in Washington, 5C joined Together AI, VAST Data, and World Wide Technology to host the AI Pioneers Cocktail Reception, bringing together AI thought leaders to connect and celebrate the future of AI innovation.
5C continued its 5C Voices video series with the introduction of Pierre-Luc Dion, Senior Cloud Architect, and Sébastien Milot, Solution Architect, giving insights and practical tips for building and accelerating AI infrastructure.
November - Global Validation at Supercomputing
November marked a milestone in the collaboration between 5C, Pegatron, and Together AI focused on large-scale AI infrastructure powered by NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and NVIDIA HGX B200 liquid-cooled racks.
The partnership reflects a shared focus on building the kind of integrated, production-ready systems required to support the next generation of AI factories.
That collaboration was echoed by Pegatron’s leadership, who highlighted the strength of the partnership and the progress being made at the infrastructure level:

5C also made a showing with a booth at the Supercomputing 2025 (SC25) conference in St. Louis, giving us the opportunity to share our vision for large-scale, purpose-built AI infrastructure solutions that are uniquely tailored to the needs of AI frontier labs, AI-native companies, and large-scale enterprise clients.

Looking Ahead: A Canadian-Built Global AI Future
2026 promises to bring even more milestones as 5C moves towards its goals to deliver purpose-built infrastructure for AI with a network of state-of-the-art data centers.
In the year ahead, we look forward to the inauguration of our next-gen AI factory in Memphis, alongside continued progress with strategic partners across the AI ecosystem.
